When I first interviewed Levi Hummon in 2019, I quickly learned that he was the son of the Grammy-winning songwriter Marcus Hummon. While both are avid singer/songwriters, at the time Levi was concentrating on performing, while Marcus continued to create new music magnificently.
Fast forward seven years, and now Levi has gotten married, is expecting a baby, and has created an independent record label, 3686 Records, with his pal, Eric Arjes. Marcus continues to compose new music, as was mentioned in his recent Music Spotlight column.
Levi explained of his record label, 3686, is the longitude and latitude of Nashville. Initially, he was signed to a major label, but became an independent artist in 2017.

He explained, “I had partners and people that were my champions, but I learned that it’s so important to own your master’s and to believe in yourself, invest in yourself. The idea behind 3686 is taking what I did for myself and how I got to 250 million streams through independent releases, etc., and putting that into artists that I believe in and investing in artists as I invested in myself.”
Currently, the artists on the 3686’s diverse roster include Ava Claire, Cherry Vance, Sam Palladio, and Marcus Hummon.
Levi shared, ‘This label really is a good example of what I love as a listener. And it’s everything from singer-songwriters, country music, to rock music, and the great beyond of pop.”
Now, Levi and Marcus have teamed up to create a beautiful acoustic cover of one of the finest lyrical songs of the 21st century, “Bless The Broken Road.” Originally co-written by Marcus Hummon, Bobby Boyd, and Jeff Hanna, the song earned Best Country Song at the 2005 Grammy Awards and remains one of country music’s most beloved modern standards. Now, more than two decades later, Marcus revisits the track in its most intimate form yet: a stripped-back piano-and-vocal duet with Levi, inspired by the way the two performed it together for years. Rooted in the song’s enduring message of hope, faith, and trusting the path placed before us, this new rendition offers a moving reminder that even life’s most difficult seasons can lead us exactly where we are meant to be.
Marcus stated, “There’s no way of knowing when you write something, if it’s going to have a life in the way that “Bless the Broken Road” has had. It’s a songwriter’s dream when it becomes the type of tune that people take into their lives. I have sung it at countless weddings.”
People are always looking for second chances. “Bless The Broken Road” shows that the chance for love is always out there.
“For years, Levi and I have sung this song everywhere, from shows (like the Listening Room and Bluebird Café) to family gatherings,” said Marcus. “Recording it the way we’ve always performed it, just piano and our voices, felt like the most natural way to honor its journey. I’m grateful he still loves singing it with his dad.”
I think the song is so important that, even though it’s more than 20 years old, its message remains crucial and relevant, especially in today’s climate.
The chorus states: Every long, lost dream led me to where you are/ Others who broke my heart, they were like Northern stars/ Pointing me on my way into your loving arms/ This much I know is true/ That God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you. It reminds us that everything happens for a reason.
While the song was originally made famous by the group Rascal Flatts, adding Levi to Marcus’s beautifully written song gives a chance for Levi’s million + young followers to hear the classic pop/country tune that they might not have heard otherwise.
Levi shared, “It’s a happy accident that we found out my wife was pregnant when the song was about to be released. I will get to share this song with my future child.”

Not only is Marcus Levi’s dad and soon-to-be grandfather, he is also his mentor and the head of A & R for 3686 Records. Levi loves the song and especially singing it with his dad. Recording “Bless The Broken Road” has kept his artistic energy churning as he writes and releases new music and awaits his new baby.
Together, the father and son’s rendition stands as both a celebration of the song’s enduring message of hope, faith, and divine timing and a bridge between Marcus’ storied catalog and Levi’s growing global audience.
